MVJ's New Logo
My student Andre T. Richard came up with the initial idea for the logo. I made editorial changes to refine the logo mark in collaboration with the student and the program directors.

The adjustments made were aligning edges, adding more white space between the letterforms, and adding a word mark underneath the mark.

The final logos shown compares both versions. The revised version (in black) was approved as the official logo for publication and the program website.

CHALLENGE – Design a fresh new military magazine for the rebranded Military Visual Journalism (MVJ) department in S.I. Newhouse School of
Public Communications.

SOLUTION – This year, the military department within the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications decided to rebrand their program with a new logo. Outside of the VIS 207 course, I supported our military students through the design process to create a new identity—this logo would also appear on the cover of the program’s magazine. From there, we worked to create a modern magazine that showcases impactful narratives and images from different groups and individuals around Upstate New York.
